Description

This is for the friend who always lets tea go slightly cold because the conversation came first.

The Tea Cup and Saucer Tropicos (set of 4) by Tania Bulhões carries the same hand-painted tropical motif, but softened across a larger surface, where the brushwork feels slower and more open. Each piece has slight variation, like it was finished one at a time rather than produced as a set.

They work best in unhurried moments, late mornings that stretch into the afternoon, or tables where no one is in a rush to leave.

Care

Gold banding and hand painting mean no microwave, ever, and no dishwasher if you want the gold to stay gold. Warm water, mild soap, dry it properly, put it back in rotation. The body itself was fired past anything your kitchen can do to it. The decoration is the delicate part, and even that survives ordinary Tuesdays.

“Inspired by nature and the world"

Tania Bulhões opened a small shop in Uberaba, in the interior of Minas Gerais, in 1989. It sold plates, paintings, whatever came in. Somewhere in there she worked out that the plates were the point. São Paulo followed in 1991.
