Cutlery that refuses to match
Sabre began in 1993, when Francis Gelb, born into a family of goldsmiths, was asked to design a knife and decided the handle was the interesting part. He gave it color. Then he gave it a hundred more, and built a house on the idea that a table should not match. The name is the joke and the mission at once: a sabre cuts, and Sabre cuts through the gray of conventional tableware.
The Bistrot line is that idea in daily use. A classic French café shape, nylon handles in solids and patterns, stainless steel that goes in the dishwasher. Buy one place setting or a drawer's worth, mix the colors on purpose, and let the cutlery be the thing people pick up and talk about.
